Unit X - London Road Firestation Brief

I have been working with Jenny walker documenting the London Road, Firestation (LRFS) for my final Unit X project. This has been a fantastic opportunity to investigate the location and discover stories from the archives at Greater Manchester Fire Service Museum in Rochdale. The building is currently in a transitional moment as it has been abandoned for over 30 years and will be undergoing a major redevelopment this summer.During this project I have used both pen and camera as a sketchbook to capture this moment.

Illustration based on the first fireman's breathing equipment, which supplied fresh air inside a smoked filled building. Initially firefighters main aim was to save property not lives 'life was cheap."
