Workshop:
In this workshop I worked in a group with people from my course (Becky,Corrine,Eva,Gemma and Melissa) by collaborating ideas and bounce of each other. We were given 2 words and an object which were: Forgotten, Bicycle and Candlestick
The brief was very open and very playful so to get to a final outcome stage we mind mapped ideas and words to get going and bounce ideas from each other:

This helped us all getting started and to develop ideas creatively, which helped us picture an idea in our heads. With a lot of material, cardboard, ribbon and other materials, this gave us enough to play around with and start with our piece.

A basic structure idea we had using cardboard on a smaller scale which we all agreed was a successful shape. Then enlarged on a bigger scale a1 size.

Spider Character 

This workshop has made me think of different ways of going about outcomes. Playing and being more creative is a different way to work rather than just sticking to 2d outcomes such as drawings, painting and sketches.

I also learnt that its best to photograph continuously at various different stages to show how the outcome have developed and Photograph straight away when given a chance, as unfortunately we do not have a professional final photograph of our outcome as it was destroyed before we do that. Although our little spider did not get destroyed so we played around with it and improvised by taking images in the studio and here are some of our final photographs:

We then decided to create a short video of the spider dancing and also added some music in the background. Having no experience of creating a short video and adding music into the background we faced many problems but overcame them. Using new software including Garage Band and aftereffects we split in our group and me and Becky edited the video whilst Gemma and Melissa created the music in the background.

Manipulated wire to create a building structure from my sketches of buildings in Pakistan, then dipped into plaster to create a smoother, thicker outline

Wire, vanishing material, thread

Using wire to manipulate a minaret shape, then stitching on panels using vanishing material and sewing onto it creating a pattern of a minaret onto the vanishing material, all stitched together on 3 sides of the panel leaving 1 empty to view the stitch detail on the inside as well
